PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER'S WORKSHOP

This three day workshop is designed to orient public information personnel to emergency management responsibilities and provide training in the skills necessary for a public information officer. Topics presented include:

working with the media
how to conduct a news briefing
rumor control
creating a speaker's bureau
the Freedom of Information Act/Open Meetings Act
on-camera and off-camera techniques.
During the workshop participants will have several opportunities to practice the techniques introduced.

This workshop is appropriate for individuals involved in public information.

Please note: Applications for courses will be accepted up to 1 day prior to the course date.
However, the cutoff date for lodging is 7 days prior to class.

There are no scheduled dates for this course.
