Flood Fighting Operations

Flood Fighting Operations teaches the strategies and tactics for managing a jurisdiction's flood fighting operations. The overall logistical structure of flood response and the state's interaction with local jurisdictions will be discussed.

Please note: Attendees should dress to take part in outdoor, physical work as part of the class. Appropriate clothing includes: heavy shirt, heavy material pants, gloves, and boots.

Course Length: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Prerequisite: None

Target Audience:
The primary audience would be those individuals who would be responsible for coordinating the flood fighting operations within their jurisdiction. It would be their responsibility to take this information back to their jurisdiction and use it to improve their local flood fighting program. Students will also receive a copy of FEMA's G270 Expedient Flood Training Power Point and Instructor notes. This will provide these students with a standard 45-minute rapid training presentation that they can use to instruct local staff/volunteers on how to properly fill sand bags, stack them and protect sandbag levees.

Please note: Applications for courses will be accepted up to 1 day prior to the course date.
However, the cutoff date for lodging is 7 days prior to class.

There are no scheduled dates for this course.
