Central Midwest Compact Commission Statutes
Listed below are the names of the Central Midwest Compact Commission Statutes, along with a synopsis of the statutory requirements, by which the Illinois Emergency Management Agency exercises, administers and enforces its rights, powers, duties and responsibilities.
CENTRAL MIDWEST RADIOACTIVE WASTE COMPACT ACT [45 ILCS 140/0.01 - 140/1.]
This Act (effective September 7, 1984) creates the Central Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Compact and establishes the Central Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission.
Provides that the Commission:
- shall adopt a regional management plan for the management of waste generated within the region;
- may designate a party state as a host state and with the approval of the General Assembly;
- may enter into agreements regarding the use of regional facilities;
- may enter into agreements for the import of waste for disposal at a regional facility (so long as the host state has so authorized by law); and
- shall submit an annual report to provide an update of the status of the Commission's activities.
RADIOACTIVE WASTE COMPACT ENFORCEMENT ACT [45 ILCS 141/1 - 141/31]
This Act (effective September 18, 1992) tracks the language of the Compact and authorizes the Agency to enforce the provisions of the Compact by providing penalities against any person who is not an officer of another state for any violation of any provision of the Compact.
