Nuclear Power Station Response (Offsite) Basic Radiation for the Emergency Worker Basic Radiation for the Emergency Worker is designed for emergency response personnel assigned the responsibility of protecting the public during nuclear power station incidents. Topics of instruction include basic radiation, methods of protection, emergency worker dosimetry kit contents and operation, dosimetry control procedures, and exposure limit guidelines. This technical training is normally coordinated and presented in conjunction with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, which provides operational topics of instruction. This class is recommended for all personnel assigned the duties and responsibilities generated by off-site response to nuclear power station incidents. Average class length for technical training only is 1.0 hour, while the combined training requires approximately 2.0 hours. Dosimetry Control Officer Dosimetry Control Officer training is designed for personnel responsible for the maintenance, control, and issue of emergency worker dosimetry kits, which are required for off-site nuclear power station (NPS) response. Pre- and post-incident activities and the actions required during NPS response are discussed in detail, along with the policies, procedures, and requisite paperwork associated with the NPS Emergency Worker Program. It is recommended that all personnel assigned the responsibility of a Dosimetry Control Officer attend this class. Average class length is 1.0 hour. Local Compensation Block Grant Program Local Block Grant Program training details the rules, regulations, and guidance used in the development of block grant requests. The application process, claim form preparation and submittal, and recordkeeping and audit requirements are reviewed in depth. Participants receive manuals and paperwork that can be used for reference. Staff assigned the responsibility of claim preparation and/or who are designated the local block grant point-of-contact should attend this class. Average class length is 1.0 hour. |
